Sustainability
At Rusty, we recognise our responsibility to reduce our environmental impact. We’ve taken steps by introducing recycled materials into our collections and are exploring lower-impact fabric options.
We’re not claiming to have it all figured out, but we’re committed to making progress season by season, with an eye on long-term impact reduction across our range.
Materials
We’re making a conscious effort to choose fibres with a lower impact where we can, like linen, wool, recycled polyester, and we’re working to increase our use of organic cotton.
We also use deadstock fabrics, leftover or surplus materials from other production runs, making the most of what’s already out there and reducing unnecessary production and waste.
These choices help us make gear that lasts, for your wardrobe and for the planet.
Wetsuits
Instead of using traditional neoprene, which often relies on petroleum-based processes, we use 100% limestone-based ECOPRENE foam in our wetsuits. It’s topped off with water-based glues and laminates, all kinder on you, the ocean, and everything in it.
Swimwear & Boardshorts
Almost 90% of our women’s swim range is made from recycled nylon, paired with durable Lycra, built to hold its shape season after season and keep waste out of landfills.
Majority of our fixed waist boardshorts use 38% recycled polyester, and we’re working to lift that even higher.
Rusty. Still pushing boundaries, in design, in culture, and in keeping it as clean as we can.
