The 1990's was the rebirth of surf, a turning point in the industry. It was a heavy bend towards a darker feel that replaced the bright fluros of the 80's.

There was a search for something more real to counter the corporate slickness. The Seattle sound emerged and fashion followed suit with the dirty sound of grunge being reflected in the latest looks.

Trend setters and team riders teetered the line of freak and their freakishness became desirable. Matt Branson with his love for tattoos and death metal, along with Kalani Robb, Taylor Knox, Shane Powell and Sunny Abberton were all part of this new movement.

It was first introduced in 1991, and its reissue in 2018 forms a milestone for our Before Crowds Collection.
